The Lord gives the increase, in return, we increase our ministry to ever greater numbers of Zimbabwe orphans.
New Building Constructed
A 3rd family home has been constructed at the New Hope Home site in Binga, raising the capacity to receive 24 children who are transitioning from homelessness or orphanage to a family.
10 Years of Ministry
Empty the Orphanage Ministry celebrates 10 years since our first child was taken out of an orphanage and placed with a Christian family.
Five New Buildings
From 2013-17, five new buildings were constructed on the New Hope Home site (a chapel building, 2 family homes, and 2 guest houses). Building these structures is quite a process as most of the materials are made on site entirely from scratch.
Our ministry took on full time financial support of Dr. Jabulani Mudenda and his staff to run the New Hope Home operations in Zimbabwe.
Empty the Orphanage Ministry assembled a board of directors and filed for 501(c)3 non-profit status. Preliminary construction has begun on the New Hope Home in Binga (check our blog for updates).
A piece of land in Binga, Zimbabwe was acquired for the purpose of building a transition house for homeless orphans. The transition house, to be named the New Hope Home, will be used as a starting point for orphans and street children to be placed into Christian families.
Strategy and Action
A strategy was discussed that would move children out of orphanages and into families. Two Zimbabwean families received girls into their home and the “Empty the Orphanage” idea was born.
Monthly Support Begins
After exchanging letters with kids at an orphanage in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, the East White Oak Bible Church (Carlock, IL) youth group began sending monthly support to that orphanage.
Growing Orphan Crisis
On a visit to churches in the USA, Dr. Jabulani Mudenda shared about the growing orphan crisis in his country. At the time of his visit, Zimbabwe had the highest percentage of orphans in the world.
